| Abstract: | Discusses large, local ice centres that developed during Wisconsinan glaciation, effectively barring Laurentide ice from region. Correlates offshore glacial sediments to their terrestrial counterparts, establishing links between ice flow patterns on land and ice margins offshore. Defines and describes five major flow patterns, or "phases". Concludes timing of glacial onset and extent of Early Wisconsinan ice sheets in Maritime Canada still to be established. Summarises new paradigm for Appalachian Glacier Complex as "lots of local ice". |
