| Abstract: | Notes Montana hosts multiple Pleistocene examples of all glacier types, including continental ice sheets (Laurentide and Cordilleran), large and small mountain ice caps, and transection glaciers. Valley cirque and niche glaciers existed in more than sixty distinct mountain ranges. Most glacier extents have not been field mapped and nowhere are ages well constrained. Describes type sections at: Saint Mary and Two Medicine Ridges, Gardiner travertine, Roaring Lion Creek and Piper Lake Moraine. |
