Record #177334:

The deglaciation of Maine, U.S.A. / Harold W. Borns, Jr.

Title: The deglaciation of Maine, U.S.A. / Harold W. Borns, Jr.
Author(s): Borns, Harold W.,
Date: 2004.
Publisher: Amsterdam: Elsevier
In: Quaternary glaciations - extent and chronology : Part II North America. (2004.),
Abstract: Notes Maine's glacial geology records northward recession of Late Wisconsinan Laurentide Ice Sheet, followed by development of residual ice cap in Maine-Québec border region. Paper examines chronology of deglaciation and marine transgression, based on results of new research (AMS dating and stratigraphical analysis of pond and lake sediments) prompted by recent recognition of Late-glacial climate variability in Maine and the Maritimes and on evidence from end moraines, deltas and submarine fans deposited during marine transgression and from striation patterns, meltwater channels, etc., inland. Presents map showing end moraines, deglaciation isochrons and sites yielding radiocarbon ages (listed in detail)
