| Abstract: | Describes surface morphology of large outlet glacier on Disko Island during quiescent phase following 1995-98 surge event. Focusing on advanced glacier tongue and aiming to classify glaciogeomorphological surge system, describes and illustrates: surge features associated with active surging, such as propagating surge front and serac formation, or formed as consequence of surging, such as looped medial moraines and potholes; hydrological features related to evolution of glacier drainage system, such as supraglacial routing, moulin types and chasms. Proposes chronological model of initial quiescent phase. |
