| Abstract: | Reports field observations of sediment depth and facies around two whaleback landforms at site within LGM ice limits, east of Hielo Patagónico Norte. Aims to investigate relationship between glacigenic deposits and whaleback formation and apportion relative contributions to glacial abrasion between subglacial sediment sliding over bedrock and individual clasts contained within basal ice. Concludes from heavily abraded and striated whaleback surfaces and discontinuous nature of surrounding layer of sediment that subglacial erosion was spatially variable and whaleback surface abrasion due to entrained clasts rather than sliding of subglacial till. |
