| Abstract: | Proposes mathematical model for evolution of thermokarst process, on basis that process is caused by seasonal difference in thermal resistance on lake surface and by formation of water layer with temperature around 4°C at lake bottom. Presents schematic of lake evolution and describes model consisting of: 1) heat conductivity problem with conditions of heat balance on phase boundary, convection in water and boundary conditions; 2) equations for lake surface expansion (thermoabrasion problem - precipitous shore receding); 3) problem of lake bottom evolution. Presents and discusses numerical results from modelling of Turinto lake (Yamal peninsula) under different climate scenarios. |
