| Abstract: | Searches for statistically significant distinctions between pairs of probabilistic zoning maps constructed for two different periods for each of two avalanche paths (1965-76 and 1976-92 for No. 22 in Khibiny Mountains and 1972-79 and 2000-03 for "Domashniy (Domestic)" in Caucasus). Analysis shows statistical distinctions for Khibiniy avalanche path characteristic of increased share (by run-out distance) of large avalanches. Notes such a reaction of Khibiny avalanches to predicted climate warming has been forecast and supposes that statistical assessment methods of avalanche activity will be effective means of climate process monitoring. |
