Abstract: Describes experiments using gas bubble emission technique to investigate formation process of CO₂ hydrate chimney structure. Describes such structures observed on sea floor, experimental apparatus using pressure cell with optical windows and procedure. Hydrate chimney growth occurred when supercooling reached or exceeded 3K. Discusses change of hydrate structure with pressure and factors affecting chimney formation.
