In: Erde, Die. (2005.), Vol. 136(1) (2005)
Abstract: Combines detailed sedimentological analyses with modern optical stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating to improve chronostratigraphic framework for Stolzenhagen sediments in region of Pommeranian terminal moraine. Presents core stratigraphies, lithologies and 11 OSL datings. Interprets processes of sediment accumulation and erosion and discusses their timing. Develops model of landscape evolution and controlling environmental and climatic triggers for last 150 kyr. Concludes major sand accumulation occurred under Saalian periglacial conditions and Weichselian accumulation was relatively minor. Evidence of short-lived proglacial lake indicates very rapid advance of local ice lobe during Last Glacial Maximum. Study also demonstrates successful cooperation of local private efforts to preserve important geological outcrop.
