| Abstract: | Provides formal lithostratigraphical framework for Upper Palaeozoic succession which may prove to be of great commercial interest in terms of hydrocarbon exploration. Defines eight new formations and assigns them to existing groups to reflect offshore development of Upper Palaeozoic succession. Also defines three formations representing Bjarmeland Group - Mid-Permian carbonate development, as yet poorly defined in highly condensed sequences onshore Svalbard, but present in wells in Barents Sea. |
