Abstract: Examines surficial geology of Yellowknife greenstone belt, identifying till veneer as most widespread surficial deposit, but locally till has been reworked by meltwater and glaciolacustrine processes, and resulting properties and textures are variable. Multi-element geochemical anomalies in till, associated with gold deposits around Yellowknife, clearly demonstrate effectiveness of till sampling for mineral exploration. Finds that drift prospecting techniques examined in study have proved to be effective in Yellowknife area and beyond.
