Evidence of parapox-, alphaherpes- and pestivirus infections in carcasses of semi-domesticated reindeer (Rangifer tarandus tarandus) from Finnmark, Norway / Morten Tryland, Torill Mørk, Kathrine A. Ryeng, Karen K. Sørensen.

Date: 2005.
In: Rangifer. (2005.), Vol. 25(2) (2005)
Abstract: Reports results of autopsies conducted on 48 carcasses of semi-domesticated reindeer collected on winter pastures and calving grounds from two herds in western Finnmark and two in eastern Finnmark. Autopsy reveals that 39 of 48 animals died of emaciation. Detects parapoxvirus-specific DNA in samples from 6 of 48 animals, indicating that parapoxvirus, presumably orf-virus, is present among reindeer in Finnmark.
