Date: 2006.
In: International Journal of Circumpolar Health. (2006.), Vol. 65(3) (2006)
Abstract: Evaluates essential and non-essential elements in bowhead whale (Balaena mysticetus) by analysing tissues for key elements and comparing with published food guidelines. Finds liver and kidney to be rich in essential/non-essential elements and to have greatest concentration of cadmium among tissues studied, while mercury, lead and arsenic are relatively low; also, that other tissues, except blubber, are excellent sources of many essential elements, without abundance of liver and kidney cadmium.
