Title: | An aboriginal perspective on the remediation of Mid-Canada Radar Line sites in the Subarctic: a partnership evaluation / Brandy Sistill, Mike Metatawabin, Guy Iannucci, Leonard J.S. Tsuji. |
Author(s): | Sistill, Brandy. Metatawabin, Mike. Iannucci, Guy. Tsuji, Leonard J. S. |
Date: | 2006. |
In: | Arctic. (2006.), Vol. 59(2) (2006) |
Abstract: | Discusses problems of contamination arising from improper decommissioning of Mid-Canada Radar Line (MCRL) (built during 1950s in response to perceived threat of Soviet nuclear attack over Arctic) in context of internal politics. Demonstrates that, in 2001, when MCRL site 050 was remediated, Fort Albany First Nation, Department of National Defence and Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources had formed partnership to undertake this. Suggests that partnership provides framework for other collaborative relationships in connection with environmental action. |
Notes: | Arctic. Vol. 59(2) :142-154 (2006). French abstract. |
