Record #176300:
Modern chironomid assemblages and their relationship to physical and chemical variables in southwest Yukon and northern British Columbia lakes / S.E. Wilson, K. Gajewski.
Title: | Modern chironomid assemblages and their relationship to physical and chemical variables in southwest Yukon and northern British Columbia lakes / S.E. Wilson, K. Gajewski. |
Author(s): | Wilson, S. E. Gajewski, K. |
Date: | 2004. |
In: | Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (2004.), Vol. 36(4) (2004) |
Abstract: | Reports extraction of modern chironomid assemblages consisting of 68 taxa from sediments of 39 lakes in south-west Yukon and northern British Columbia. Discusses factors affecting chironomid distribution: sediment organic matter, total phosphorus, bottom water temperature and lake alkalinity. Results show importance of organic matter (which is associated with water depth and lake productivity) in affecting chironomid community composition. |
