Abstract: Discusses contribution of female architects to reconstruction of "scorched-earth" areas and bombed towns of North Norway, after Second World War. Notes particular contribution to work in public reconstruction offices, and participation in debate on modernisation of housing. Argues that female architects of 1950s acted as pioneers for future generations and aided struggle for access to professional status in Norway.
