Abstract: Discusses phonetic differences between Utkuhiksalik (sub-dialect of Natsilik within Western Canadian Inuit dialect continuum) and other Western dialects, in particular contrasts of /h/ and /s/, /j/ and /ř/. Describes sound changes from Proto-Eskimoan "j", "o", and "c" to illustrate how changes may have arisen.
