Abstract: | Account of compilation of Naukan dictionary published by Alaska Native Language Center of Univeristy of Alaska, Fairbanks. Notes that dictionary has appeared in two volumes: Latin-letter orthography to English and modified Cyrillic (used for Chukotkan Eskimo languages) to Russian. Also notes appropriate and beneficial collaboration of compilers from Alaska, European Russia and Chukotka and hopes that dictionary will serve as bridge between two halves of single people and culture divided only in recent decades. |
