Record #176235:

Translated title: Inuit senses of history and their differences in western Greenland and Nunavut.
Author(s): Csonka, Yvon.
Date: 2005.
Language: French.
In: Études Inuit = Inuit Studies. (2005.), Vol. 29(1-2) (2005)
Abstract: Argues that recent changes in Inuit historicities do not represent progress from limited interest in historical questions to enlightened historical consciousness, but that changes should be seen as paralleling recent rapid transitions of their societies, world views and identities. Suggests that differences between West Greenlandic and Nunavut historicities are attributable to fact that today's visions of past represent outcome of divergent historical developments within (post-)colonial framework.
