Record #176171:

Two caribou mortality events in Northwest Alaska: possible causes and management problems / Jim Dau.

Title: Two caribou mortality events in Northwest Alaska: possible causes and management problems / Jim Dau.
Author(s): Dau, Jim.
Date: 2005.
In: Rangifer. (2005.), Special Issue No. 16 (2005)
Abstract: Reports high, localised caribou mortality during autumn and winter 1994-1995 and winter 1999-2000. Correlates with severe weather conditions near Cape Thompson over corresponding periods. Several indicators suggest that severe storms killed some caribou before starvation was fatal. Notes that local residents attributed mortality events to poisoning by contaminants.
