Abstract: Using electron microscope analysis of volcanic ash particle in ice core from Lomonosovfonna ice cap, demonstrates similarity of chemical composition as reported for debris from eruption of Iceland's Laki fissure in 1783 and confirms identification of tephra. Notes that sulphuric acid spike had significant cooling impact recorded in oxygen isotope profile from core, which corresponds to sudden drop in temperature of approximately 2°C and which took several years to recover to previous levels.
