Abstract: Describes recently emerged nunatak 2 km east of Pálsfjall in south-west Vatnajökull. Reports survey in spring 2004 establishing nunatak was 100 m long and 30 m wide, made of flow-banded rhyolite lava, has an elevation of 1366 m and is the top of 700 m high mountain. Expects exposure to grow in warming climate. Húsbóndi was nickname of Jón Eythósson, first president and founder of Icelandic Glaciological Society.
