| Abstract: | Account of pollination experiments with bilberry, Vaccinium myrtillus, in northern Finland with results used on seed production in regression model to examine occurrence of inbreeding depression vs. pre-zygotic incompatibility. Estimates magnitude of inbreeding depression at δ = 0.8 and mean of 7.8 lethal equivalents per zygote (range of 1-14). Figures are comparable to estimates made for bilberry at central European location and for other long-lived plants and support observation that longevity is associated with high genetic load. |
