Record #175885:

Radar echo characteristics at Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard and Arctic storms over the Norwegian Sea / Yoshio Asuma, Nao Ogitani, Makoto Wada.

Title: Radar echo characteristics at Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard and Arctic storms over the Norwegian Sea / Yoshio Asuma, Nao Ogitani, Makoto Wada.
Author(s): Asuma, Yoshio.
Ogitani, Nao.
Wada, Makoto.
Date: 2005.
In: Polar Meteorology and Glaciology. (2005.), Vol. 19 (2005)
Abstract: Preliminary report on radar echo characteristics and Arctic storms near Svalbard. Investigations between April 1994 and March 1995, using X-band vertically pointing radar data and synoptic weather charts show strong seasonal variations. Low pressure system echo patterns increase in early summer and early winter and appear related to precipitation behaviour at Ny-Ålesund and vapour transportation to high Arctic from lower latitudes.
