| Abstract: | Uses age structure, tree characteristics and environmental data to analyse state of birch treeline in three regions along Scandes mountains from 62°10′N to 69°50′N. Finds no evidence for general pattern of treeline advance for all regions, despite expectations based on climate warming, owing to seasonally different climate patterns, browsing and abrasion. |
