| Abstract: | Book by Charcot, with much incidental history, covers first voyage of Pourquoi-Pas? to Greenland, Jan Mayen and two attempts to land on and obtain mineral samples from Rockall, with drawings of peak from all sides. Second section is on history of Greenland and first attempt to colonise its eastern coast. Third section is second voyage of Pourquoi-Pas? to East Greenland and Jan Mayen. Fourth section in diary form is concerned with search for Amundsen and others. Fifth is by another hand "C.B." and tells of Charcot's last voyage and drowning in storm off western Iceland. Published in Bruges in 1937 under same title by Librairie de L'Oeurve Saint-Charles. |
