| Abstract: | Evaluates aerial survey data for glaucous gulls for trends in numbers, associations with human activity, and confounding relationships with environmental variables. Finds no clear trend in abundance of gulls in lagoons at Prudhoe Bay or obvious interaction with human activity (air traffic, boat traffic or humans on land or water) in survey area during period of oilfield development. Finds strong positive relationship between glaucous gull and snow goose nests, suggesting common environmental variable may be regulator. |
