Allocating harvests among polar bear stocks in the Beaufort Sea / S.C. Amstrup, G.M. Durner, I. Stirling, T.L. McDonald.
Title: | Allocating harvests among polar bear stocks in the Beaufort Sea / S.C. Amstrup, G.M. Durner, I. Stirling, T.L. McDonald. |
Author(s): | Amstrup, S. C. Durner, G. M. Stirling, I. McDonald, T. L. |
Date: | 2005. |
In: | Arctic. (2005.), Vol. 58(3) (2005) |
Abstract: | Describes application of new analytical procedures to extensive radiotelemetry data set to quantify geographic overlap among bears from adjacent populations, thereby improving efficacy of Polar Bear Management Agreement for Southern Beaufort Sea (agreement setting harvest quotas for Inupiat and Inuvialiut hunters). Procedures use two-dimensional kernel smoothing and cluster analysis of radio relocation data applied to cells within grid. |
Notes: | Arctic. Vol. 58(3) :247-259 (2005). French abstract. |
