Record #175232:

Temporal and spatial distribution and abundance of flathead sole (Hippoglossoides elassodon) eggs and larvae in the western Gulf of Alaska / Steven M. Porter.

Title: Temporal and spatial distribution and abundance of flathead sole (Hippoglossoides elassodon) eggs and larvae in the western Gulf of Alaska / Steven M. Porter.
Author(s): Porter, Steven M.
Date: 2005.
In: Fishery Bulletin. (2005.), Vol. 103(4) (2005)
Abstract: Uses data from ichthyoplankton surveys conducted in 1972 and from 1977 to 1999 to examine timing of spawning, geographic distribution and abundance and vertical distribution of eggs and larvae of flathead sole. Suggests that, as flathead sole eggs are pelagic, depth distribution may be function of developmental stage. Data from MOCNESS tows indicates that eggs sink near to time of hatching and larvae rise to surface to feed. Geographic distribution of larvae follows pattern similar to eggs, but shifts about one month later.
