Abstract: Uses comprehensive data set for young lavas erupted along Alaska-Aleutian arc to examine variation in fluid and sediment transport rates in response to systematic changes in subduction rate and dip along arc and across ocean-continent boundary. New analyses on youngest arc lavas show no positive evidence for basaltic crustal melt involvement, suggesting that conditions responsible for production of such distinctive melts are restricted to far western portion of arc, with sediment melting restricted to centre of arc encompassed by study.
