Abstract: Assesses whether objectives of Article 3 of 1991 Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty are being met, with particular reference to potential difficulties associated with maintaining Antarctic wilderness values and promoting environmentally responsible travel to the Antarctic. Discusses problems of environmental management that may have arisen from rapid expansion of tourism, and limitations of Treaty system managing the industry.
