Using data from Marre-Sale polar station and elsewhere, establishes that North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) index, air temperature, and duration of ice-free period change synchronously. Finds coastal retreat rates in western Russian Arctic also change synchronously, with storms playing relatively small role in process of coastal destruction.
