Abstract: History of sealing ship Veslekari, launched 1918 from Christian Jensen's shipyard near Kristiania. She participated in 1936 relief expedition to Jan Mayen to evacuate earthquake stricken area and 1939 rescue of Count Gaston Micard from northeast Greenland. Vessel was part of 1928 search for Roald Amundsen off Bjørnøya, and was chartered four times as expedition ship for American Arctic explorer Miss Louise A. Boyd. Impounded by British and Norwegian forces in 1940, she was chartered by Ministry of War transport and based in Scotland. Renamed HMS Bransfield in 1943 and prepared for service in Antarctic, after WWII she resumed sealing under Norwegian ownership until 1961, when she was wrecked in ice off Newfoundland.
