Over period 1977-1992, for which detailed mass balance measurements are presented, glacier had negative mass balance for most years; glacier length, area and volume all decreased. Deficiency of pure accumulation caused surface of kinematic accumulation area to be lowered more than that of ablation area. Predicts Tuyuksu glacier will continue to shrink, disappearing completely in 22nd century or towards end of 21st. Expects majority of Tien Shan glaciers to experience same fate as heat influx to their surfaces increases.
