Title: Геологическая природа подледникового озера Восток в Восточной Антарктиде / Г.Л. Лейченков, Б.В. Беляцкий, А.М. Попков, С.Б. Попов.
Title, transliterated: Geologicheskai︠a︡ priroda podlednikovogo ozera Vostok v Vostochnoĭ Antarktide / G.L. Leĭchenkov, B.V. Beli︠a︡t︠s︡kiĭ, A.M. Popkov, S.B. Popov.
Translated title: Geological nature of subglacial lake Vostok.

Date: 2005.
Language: Russian.
In: Materialy Gli︠a︡t︠s︡iologicheskikh Issledovaniĭ. (2005.), Vol. 98 (2005)
Abstract: Examines rift graben origin of Lake Vostok, summarizing geophysical evidence and presenting study of solid inclusions in ice accreted from lake. Presents hypothetical geological section. Inclusions consist predominantly of clay-mica components and quartz, with a variety of accessory minerals. Most of studied minerals are thought to have been scored and transported by basal ice from south-west lake shore. Accessory mineral assemblage more characteristic of high-grade metamorphic rocks aged about 1.7 Ga and geophysical information suggest province to west of lake is part of Proterozoic Mobil Belt of Antarctic Crystalline Shield. Sulphide materials identified may originate from hydrothermal activity within lake.
