Abstract: Presents identification of Lake Vostok grounding line from radio echo sounding campaigns during 1998-2004. Presents sample records showing reliable and less distinct examples of grounding line identification. Groups 195 points where routes appear to cross grounding line by reliability. Presents map of grounding line with heights determined. Reports 22 sections of isolated subglacial water bodies have been identified around Lake Vostok. Calculates Lake Vostok surface area is about 17,000 km² and coastline length (excluding nine subglacial islands discovered) about 1000 km.
