Compares RES vertical profile from vicinity of 5G-1 borehole at Vostok Station with ice core records of atmospheric dust and ice grain size; latter support RES-detected internal layers being isochrones. Visually traces layers to extend dating from published age-depth relationship at Vostok Station along RES profiles. Presents views of two of three isochrones identified at 535, 830 and 2100 m depths. Results imply paleoclimatic record longer than that from Vostok Station could be obtained from northern area of lake. Dated internal layers provide reference for numerical modelling in support of drill site choice.
