Abstract: Continues history of shipping in Falkland Islands, with particular reference to wooden sailing ships lost to fire; notably long or short passages; mutinies; unexplained minor mysteries; biographical notes on Captain William Horton Smyley who was active in sealing and whaling in Falkland Island waters in mid-19th century; biographical notes on Frank Rowlands of Stockholm, who settled in Falkland Islands following shipwrecked on Speedwell Island in 1860; and an account of the wreck of Progreso in 1908 and eight-week drift of survivors to Chubut in Argentina.
