| Abstract: | Proposes numerical simulation method for icebreaker surrounded by ice pieces, aiming to avoid need for model experiments. Describes numerical schemes to simulate seawater flow field and floe motion, representation of ship (as two half spheres and cylinder) and SMAC pressure-based solution method. Reports qualitatively appropriate results using single floe. Identifies several desirable improvements. |
