Problems of probabilistic simulation of an underwater pipeline track under impact of drifting hummock offshore Sakhalin island / Alexander T. Bekker, Olga A. Sabodash.

Title: Problems of probabilistic simulation of an underwater pipeline track under impact of drifting hummock offshore Sakhalin island / Alexander T. Bekker, Olga A. Sabodash.
Author(s): Bekker, Alexander T.
Sabodash, Olga A.
Date: 2005.
Publisher: Mombetsu: Okhotsk Sea & Cold Ocean Research Association
In: Proceedings of the 20th International Symposium on Okhotsk Sea and Sea Ice, Mombetsu, Hokkaido, Japan, 20-25 February 2005. (2005.),
Abstract: Applies probabilistic approach to choice of route for underwater pipeline offshore of Sakhalin island. Optimization takes into account burial depth and sea bed relief and simulation of interaction between drifting ice hummocks and sea bed. Describes model elements: effect of drifting hummock on sea bed and pipelines; criteria for hummock keel fracture when penetrating into sea bed soil; probabilistic simulation. Presents example for Sakhalin conditions (Piltun-Astokhskoye field) using observations of hummocks over one ice season, and summarizes optimal pipeline burial depths calculated.
