| Abstract: | Examines CO₂ exchange between sea and air during sea-ice formation by measuring air CO₂ concentration quasi-continuously and discusses processes controlling CO₂ flux through sea-ice. Describes sea-ice formation tank, CO₂ measuring system, and experiments at -15, -20, -25 and -30°C. Presents time series of sea ice thickness, sea water salinity, and CO₂ concentrations and fluxes, and measurements of ice growth rate and brine volume fraction and salinity. Discusses relationship between process of CO₂ release and brine conditions. |
