Abstract: Continues history of Falkland Islands in 19th century, including 1856 wreck of Lord George Bentinck; wreck of Leopold in 1858 on Jason Islands; loss of Cubana following fire aboard in 1882; rescue by Charles Lambert of crew of Frank Pierce in 1864; burning of Blue Jacket in 1869; collision in 1871 between Flower of the Forest and Galatea; abandonment of Albert Gallatin in 1875; burning of San Rafael 1876 and finding of sailors' bodies on Hoste Island, Tierra del Fuego; unsuccessful attempts to rescue City of Philadelphia in 1896; wreck of John R Kelly in 1899 at entrance to Port William; and arrangements at Stanley for ship repair work and storage of cargoes from damaged vessels.
