Record #173901:

Patagonian toothfish in international waters of the southwest Indian Ocean (Statistical Area 51) / L.J. López Abellán.

Title: Patagonian toothfish in international waters of the southwest Indian Ocean (Statistical Area 51) / L.J. López Abellán.
Author(s): López Abellán, L. J.
Date: 2005.
In: CCAMLR Science. (2005.), Vol. 12 (2005)
Abstract: Describes toothfish population size and sex structures, and catch-per-unit-effort (CPUE) in relation to depth and latitude, based on data from experimental fishing from June to July 2003 between sub-Antarctic Prince Edward and Marion Islands, Crozet Islands, and Madagascar. Northward distribution of Dissostichus eleginoides was closely related to extension of sub-Antarctic front and especially intermediate layer of sub-Antarctic water masses. Residual recruitment effect persists in survey area, which seems to be at edge of principal area of toothfish concentration. Total CPUE was 42.21 kg/thousand hooks, and depth was most important factor in distribution of CPUE.
