Links expedition legacy of artefacts, photographs and archival material from American Museum of natural History in New York to present-day descendants of its subjects. Contrasting era of Jesup Expedition with contemporary experiences, examines changes in region under Soviet rule and since end of Soviet Union. Account is based on encounters with museum workers, native scholars, performers and artisans and ordinary people. |
