The second order refraction effects for GPS signals propagation in ionosphere / A. Prokopov, A. Zanimonska.
Title: | The second order refraction effects for GPS signals propagation in ionosphere / A. Prokopov, A. Zanimonska. |
Author(s): | Prokopov, A. Zanimonska, A. |
Date: | 2005. |
In: | SCAR Report. (2005.), Vol. 23 (2005) |
Abstract: | Examines instrumental, model, and combined instrumental and model approaches to problems of modelling and elimination of second order ionospheric errors in measuring direction of radio signals received by satellites. Existing dual-frequency methods use measuring equation obtained on assumption that signals with different frequencies propagate along same rectified trajectory, and do not take account of refractive effects of spatial separation of ray paths with different carrier frequencies and their refractive lengthening due to bending. Influence of Earth's magnetic field may also be neglected. Total residual error caused by such second order effects can be several cm at high values of electron concentration on big zenith angles. Refractive effect is considerably reduced by method of error calculation incorporating total electron content (TEC) and zenith angle. |
