Record #173564:

Global sprite occurrence locations and rates derived from triangulation of transient Schumann resonance events / Mitsuteru Sato, Hiroshi Fukunishi.

Title: Global sprite occurrence locations and rates derived from triangulation of transient Schumann resonance events / Mitsuteru Sato, Hiroshi Fukunishi.
Author(s): Sato, Mitsuteru.
Fukunishi, Hiroshi.
Date: 2003.
In: Geophysical Research Letters. (2003.), Vol. 30(16) (2003)
Abstract: Estimates locations and rates of sprite occurrences on global scale using 1-100 Hz ELF magnetic field waveform data obtained at Syowa station in Antarctica and Onagawa observatory in Japan between June 2001 and January 2002. Global occurrence rate of sprites is estimated as about 720 events/day on average, and main regions of occurrence are North and South America, Africa, and South-East Asia.
