Abstract: Examines geomagnetic signature of solar wind impulses using magnetometer array data, bistatic HF radar, and co-located imaging riometer, using data for February 1996 from IMAGE and SAMNET arrays spanning northern Scandinavia and Svalbard. Impulses were associated with 1.6 mHz magnetic pulsations observed across wide range of latitudes, most likely due to field line oscillations driven by incoming fast mode waves. Radars also recorded oscillatory velocity features in ground backscatter returns consistent with ionospheric motions driven by downgoing waves. Accompanying decreases in cosmic noise absorption were evident in imaging riometer data.
