Record #173467:
Relations between snow slope processes and active-layer thickness 1972-2002, Kapp Linné, Svalbard / H. Jonas Akerman.
Title: | Relations between snow slope processes and active-layer thickness 1972-2002, Kapp Linné, Svalbard / H. Jonas Akerman. |
Author(s): | Akerman, H. Jonas. |
Date: | 2005. |
In: | Norsk Geografisk Tidsskrift. (2005.), Vol. 59(2) (2005) |
Abstract: | Summarises observations of solifluction and related processes on slopes of west coast of Spitsbergen between 1972 and 2002. Seeks quantitative data on relations between solifluction, creep rates and summer climate, paying special attention to depth of active layer. Reports results of active layer monitoring at 10 sites, differing in elevation, distance from sea, vegetation cover, substrate, and periglacial process, and parallel monitoring of snow slope processes. In special issue Permafrost geomporphological systems in a changing global climate, edited by Ole Humlun and Ketil Isaksen. |
