Record #173462:

Arctic ice shrinking as it feels the heat / Fred Pearce.

Title: Arctic ice shrinking as it feels the heat / Fred Pearce.
Author(s): Pearce, Fred.
Date: 2005.
In: New Scientist. (2005.), Vol. 188(2520) (2005)
Abstract: Links report from US National Snow and Ice Data Center showing sea ice extent at record low in summer 2005 with report that extra summer clouds are reflecting solar heat as effectively as ice they "replaced" and report blaming melting on series of immense pulses of warm water entering Arctic through Fram Strait (2005's pulse wiped nearly all ice from Laptev Sea). Authors of cloud report unable to tell whether increased cloudiness is due to evaporation from newly exposed ocean.
