Abstract: | Highlights reliable dates in Strait of Magellan to provide bedrock on which other paper in volume develops chronology's implications. Presents revised chronology based on cosmogenic isotope analysis, ¹⁴C assays, amino acid racemisation and tephrochronology. "Unpicks" effect of bedrock-derived lignite which has affected previous ¹⁴C dates and synthesises new and revised dates constraining five glacier advances. Compares with northern hemisphere and Antarctic chronologies. |
